About

I started writing down my personal research on money on this blog because, apart from my innate need to share with people any and all information I discover, I find it very relaxing to lay down everything in a clear, easy-to-understand manner.

Having grown up in a poor family and having faced a lot of obstacles to overcome challenges associated with poverty, I feel like I offer a unique perspective to online discussions on money and investing.  I’ve been poor. It was a drag. I don’t want to be poor again. So here I am obsessed with trying to find ways not to go back there.

Why Katie Scarlett, you ask? Well, remember that iconic scene in Gone with the Wind when Scarlett O’Hara went back to Tara after the American Civil War and there was nothing to eat? In her hunger and desperation, she tried eating a rotten root crop. Disgusted with herself, she declared:

“As god is my witness, they’re not going to lick me.  I’m going to live through this and when this is over, I’ll never be hungry again.”

I am Katie Scarlett.
