Attempting to make a case for early retirement in the midst of a pandemic and the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression isn’t such a hot idea. Alas, we were face to face with the novel coronavirus and a retirement plan that had the wheels already turning.
So, what’s next for us? More importantly, how did we get here? And doesn’t it seem likely that we’d run out of money if we live for another 40, 50, or 60 years without many millions of dollars? Did we win the lottery or have some major windfall? Wait, what if there’s some major emergency—like a pandemic that cut the value of our home off our net worth!—how will we survive?
We changed our focus from day-to-day career building to evaluating larger goals and plans. We wanted to set our eye on giving something back and discovering the more to life than work. TicTocLife is the story two 35 year olds figuring that out. We'll live on our earnings from a bit over a decade of work, following financial independence & early retirement (FIRE) principals to do so without any windfalls or special circumstances.
