My name is Dan. My wife and I recently achieved FI. By day I'm an active duty Officer in the U.S. Army where I serve as a physical therapist. I love what I do and helping service members, their families, and retirees. But I have always enjoyed reading and learning about finances. A few years ago I began discussing it more often and have developed a passion for helping people improve their financial lives. I began my blog to try to reach more people than I can talk to myself.
I enjoy reading research. My goal is to present some of the more complex nuances of personal finance and investing in as simple of terms and applications as possible to help you invest better.
While I write about everything FI-related my main interest is exploring how to invest in the most aggressively efficient manner possible without being stupid. I've lost money investing and I will never do that again! I'm a huge fan of index investing and advocate a diversified portfolio of index funds with tilts toward the small-cap value and profitability factors. I cringe when I see people investing 100% in VTSAX, you can do better with less risk!
