Common Sense Wallet was started during the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic affected almost all of us in some way, shape, or form. Like everyone else I saw the numbers on the news: millions unemployed, missing rent payments, and struggling to get by. I also got to experience these hardships first hand.
During the start of the pandemic, I was working as a loan officer at a financial institution. I got to talk to people who had lost their jobs or couldn’t pay rent. It was hard seeing them struggle, but I loved being able to help and inform people in their time of need.
One thing I noticed was that a lot of these people could have gotten through this hardship much easier if they had been better prepared. Many people had no savings, more debt than they could handle, and now no job. I knew that educating these people now was great, but there were so many more I could help. The goal of Common Sense Wallet is to help everyone get a better grip on their finances.
