We are Jay and Sara and we’re Minnesotan by birth and lived there much of our lives. From our earliest learning experiences in kindergarten through our graduate degrees, most of our schooling happened in Minnesota. And we spent the first 18 years of our professional lives teaching within public schools in Mankato and Duluth, Minnesota.
Our main passion is for all things outdoors that get us moving and exploring. Biking, hiking, trail running, backpacking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, camping, and anything in between. Put us in the outdoors, and we are happy.
In 2012 we took our lives on the road to become international school educators in South Africa and Hong Kong. As a result, our whole world changed for the better. But, living abroad was more than traveling abroad. It gave us insights and perspectives of the world which we never thought we’d have. To this, we’ll be eternally grateful. The move helped us prioritize what was important in our lives. It also led us to become financially independent and retire early from teaching in the summer of 2022.
